Overview


The HBO Max streaming app was being re-envisioned as a scalable framework or ‘blueprint’ of components to provide a common foundation for an international family of WBD streaming services broadcasting the Olympics.



My Contribution


As a lead UX researcher, I created a comprehensive research plan, discussion guides, and analysis framework to align international researchers. I managed vendors, conducted research, and led synthesis of final insights across global markets.

Impact


This research informed interaction models which became the basis for core in-player navigation and discovery features. This work contributed to the success of the HBO Max 2024 Olympics experience, where features like ‘Key Moments’ and ‘Gold Medal Alerts’ were widely adopted and successful in Europe.


 
Paul provided meaningful sentiments, interaction insights, and content strategy recommendations that helped shape the In-Player Discovery rails, Key Moments markers, Live and Upcoming recommendations, and more, leading to a highly engaging experience that is widely used today.
